Join Richard Leider for Complimentary Webinar:

Sponsored by the Carlson School of Management Executive Education at the Univeristy of Minnesota, Richard Leider will share how you can lead a life of certainty even in today's uncertain times.

In today's world of frequent change, we must live with very high levels of uncertainty, and most of the traditional sources of support—at home, as well as at work—are often compromised or even missing. Add to that the fact that many of us face a wholly new career landscape today where the rules are unclear, paths have been erased and organizations are constantly reorganizing.

This webiner offers the opportunity to learn how uncertain times can, in fact, be a possibility for experiencing a new sense of certainty. To sense this possibility, however, requires two essentials: renewed self awareness plus new rituals and practices. Based on Leider's classic bestseller, The Power of Purpose, this webinar examines the paradox of how uncertain times can be an opportunity for personal transformation.

As a results of this webinar, you will be able to:

Discover a new way to work on purpose in times of uncertainty

Clarify essential practices for renewing your core focus and energy

Coach yourself and others on finding support during change

AARP/Blue Zones Vitality Project Kicks Off Purpose Workshops

Inventure Founder RIchard Leider and President Barbara Hoese lead purpose workshops in Albert Lea, Minnesota as part of AARP / Blue Zones "community makeover."

Richard Leider and Barbara Hoese are leading community Purpose Workshops as part of the AARP / Blue Zones Vitality Project, currently being piloted in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Albert Lea is the focus of an innovative research project to extend the life expectency of its inhabitants by incorporating the lessons Dan Buettner learned from studying the lives of people who live the longest, healthiest lives. Called the "Blue Zones," Buettner has lead teams of researchers to these five communities around the world to discover the key ingredients to longevity. His research is published in the New York Times best-selling book, The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from People Who've Lived the Longest.

In his research, Buettner found that one of the keys to people living longer was that they had a sense of purpose. In fact, he cites research that says that people who have a purpose for their lives live seven years longer. So incorporating Purpose workshops for residents of Albert Lea only made sense. Discovering your purpose through using the Calling Cards, workshop particitipants are also encouraged to live out the purpose not only in the work but also by finding opportunities to volunteer in the community. To learn more about the Albert Lea workshops, click here.

In his first book, John Busacker weaves together lively personal examples and compelling stories to unpack 8 pointed questions that people must answer for themselves.

Money, Medicine and Meaning:

A new study released by Met Life's Mature Market Institute based on Richard Leider's book, Repacking Your Bags, finds that a sense of purpose is the foundation to living the good life.

“Living the Good Life” requires money…or so many people have assumed. However, in a groundbreaking application of measurement to meaning, researchers have found that meaning trumps money. According to a new study by MetLife’s Mature Market Institute® (MMI) and based on Richard Leider’s best-selling book, Repacking Your Bags, researchers found that those who have a sense of purpose are more likely to be content with their lives, are optimistic about their future and describe themselves as happy. The study, entitled Discovering What Matters: Balancing Money, Medicine and Meaning, found that key characteristics of people who are living on purpose include a “focus on essential things and vision of the future they want to enjoy.”

Focusing on the four key components of Money, Medicine, Meaning and Place, the MMI study found that “people pursue a positive state of being, called the Good Life,” by choosing how to best prioritize allocation of their time between various activities that make up the components. Results indicated that “three of the top five activities were Meaning-related, and all four component themes were represented in the top six activities.”

As a result of the study, MMI ~ in conjunction with Leider ~ have developed a workbook and DVD to help people better “plan and focus their activities to better achieve [their] personal vision of the good life.” A full copy of the study and the workbook, entitled Discovering What Matters, are available on MMI’s Web site under “What’s New.”
